Two years ago, while playing on her porch in Dorchester, Kai was shot and paralyzed by a stray bullet. At the trial of the convicted perpetrator, back in May 2006, Kai and her mother
FORGAVE the man who did this to her.

Every MLK Jr Holiday has been a national "teach-in" on the values of nonviolence, including unconditional love, tolerance, forgiveness and reconciliation, which are so desperately-needed to unify America. Tonya and Kai represent these values every day!
